The Perfect Pitch Deck Structure to Persuade Investors
You have a great idea, but how do you present it?
Investors (VCs) see hundreds of presentations a month. They spend on average 3 minutes on a pitch deck. If the structure isn't clear, you lose their attention immediately.
Here is the reference structure (used by Airbnb, Uber, Buffer...) in 10 must-have slides.
1. The Title Slide (Hook)
Your name, your logo, and a "Tagline" (slogan) that summarizes your value proposition in 5 words.
Example: "Airbnb: Book homes from locals like hotel rooms."
2. The Problem (The Pain)
What is the painful problem your customers are currently facing?
Show that you understand your market's pain (numbers, stories, quotes).
3. The Solution
How does your product exactly solve this problem?
Show your product (screenshots, demo), don't just talk theory.
4. The Market (Market Size)
What is the size of the opportunity?
- TAM (Total Addressable Market): The global market.
- SAM (Serviceable Available Market): The market you target geographically/technologically.
- SOM (Serviceable Obtainable Market): What you can capture in 3 years.
5. The Business Model
How do you make money? (Subscription, commission, one-time sale...)?
6. The Competition
Who are your competitors and why are you better?
Use a matrix (X and Y axes) to position yourself as the innovative alternative.
7. Traction (Validation)
Prove that it already works.
- Revenue
- Number of users
- Partnerships
- Growth rate
8. The Team
Why are YOU the best people to build this?
Highlight your past experiences (ex-Google, ex-McKinsey, serial entrepreneurs...).
9. The Ask (Financials)
How much are you looking for and for what?
- "We are raising €500k to..."
- Recruit 3 developers
- Launch marketing
10. Contact
A simple slide with your email and phone number.
